Ants
Ants are the most difficult target pest of most pest control professionals due to their ability to pop out of anywhere.
Did you know that if you spray for some ants it makes the problem worse?
Indeed, if you spray pharaoh ants it can cause “budding,” which causes the colony to develop multiple queens and colonies.
I learned this the hard way in the 80’s. But that’s another story. I also learned baiting is the only correct action to achieve control with this ant. By the way, you know if you have pharoah ants by taking a close look at them. And I mean a CLOSE look, because they’re small, like 1/8 inch long and yellow to brown in color, almost translucent.
If your ant is large and black, like a half-inch long, you may be seeing carpenter ants. They don’t eat the wood but they do hollow out tunnels to nest. Be aware of any leaks recently as they are drawn to damp wood that comes from roof leaks or leaks under sinks.
